Retiring Capt gift suggestions

As stated, my Capt will be retiring after 43 years this winter. Trying to plan ahead for a gift from the crew. Was leaning towards a brass propeller(wheel) on a stand with a plaque on it, but haven’t found the right size or look yet for making it. Do any of you have any ideas besides hookers and blow? He’s a towboat Capt if that makes a difference to you all. Thanks!

If your tug has a name board above the doors to the wheel house… get a replacement made… give him the original.

Watch. Maybe with his final or favorite tug name engraved on it.

His very own needle gun. I suggest a TX182-NS.

A nice ship’s clock is always a crowd pleaser.
I’ve also seen a sextant work really well as a gift. A really nice one in a high end box with brass plaque.

Get a big photograph printed of the boat he started out his career on, his favorite boat, his final boat, or all of the above. [Barry Griffith]( https://www.flickr.com/photos/grifsgraphics/) has photographed numerous towboats and also has the ability to make collages or even make a digital drawing of a vessel. [Dan Owen](http://tugboatsonline.com/archives/Art/artists_html/danowens.htm), editor of the Inland River Record has a massive photograph collection to choose from, as does [Jeff Yates](http://www.towboatphotography.com/), a lifelong photographer and reporter for the Waterways Journal.
