A Navios Maritime Containers-operated boxship has lost three containers in Australian waters, according to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA).
The Australian authority said the Liberia-flagged, 8,200-teu Navios Unite lost the containers in rough weather about 33km south west of Cape Leeuwin in Western Australia at 8pm local time last Thursday.
The 2006-built container vessel is enroute from Fremantle to Adelaide in South Australia.
“Overnight, AMSA tasked its Challenger jet from Perth to search an area of about 1,600 square km for any sightings of the missing containers. No containers were sighted,” AMSA updated last Friday.
It added that it is currently gathering information about the incident and will “determine its course of action” once more information is available.
