Drydocks World Dubai has been approved by the Emirates International Accreditation Centre (EIAC) to conduct inspections and to certify lifting equipment and handling gear. The yard is now authorised to carry out testing, calibration and inspections, after meeting the ISO 17020 accreditation evaluation standards and Dubai Municipality regulatory requirements. The inspection and certification teams working with the Drydocks World Quality division will in future operate as an independent entity to ensure unbiased inspections take place.
Drydocks World Dubai is one of the few companies in the UAE with this type of certification and a new inspection section has been established to streamline processes and to optimise lifting assets. The yard has more than 18,000 lifting equipment and gear items, and the new certification is expected to enhance both the quality and safety assurance of the yard’s equipment.
Drydocks World is also authorised to perform inspection for third parties, offering a new compliance service to clients. “We are focused on improving our quality and management systems in the yard, and we intend to be a top provider of inspection services in the region,” comments Capt. Rado Antolovic, Managing Director and CEO of DP World’s Maritime Services Division.
