    Hotel crew on my ship get 1/4 of a day for each 12-hour workday. Deck crew get 1.5.

    No. Cooks/Stewards time does not count.

    If your ticket reads Cook/OS half your seatime counts.

    No. To get a mate and then master’s/captain’s license your time must be in the deck department or “in the operation of the vessel”.

    It’s going to depend entirely on how your seatime is recorded by your company. A company I worked for classified all cooks/stewards as OS for COI purposes. Get your seatime letters and see what it says.
