i don’t think they even look at it during the application process as long as you pass your physical and can have your license. don’t advertise it, but don’t lie when asked. the company that just hired me has a policy where you need to let them know if you are on prescription meds of any sort, especially true as those will show up on a drug test most likely. but they didn’t ask before they gave me a job offer.

Shouldn’t be an issue. Make sure you state all medications prior to any medical and you should be fine. There is no need to inform HR. I have sailors present to the bridge with all sorts of medications for depression, adhd etc. Always inform the master in confidence on joining in case you get sick or hurt and we have to provide meds from onshore advise and a reaction may occur. Best of luck mate.

As long as you have a sufficient supply for your hitch there shouldn’t be an issue. The only thing I was ever asked was “Do you have enough medication for the hitch?”

I’d imagine they’re not even allowed to ask prior to taking up employment. You’ll get some sort of medical declaration form upon joining the ship, fill it in honestly but it’s not used for anything other than medical reasons.

As long as you pass your medical examination (don’t forget to mention that you take medication) it should not be a problem. Take enough with you for the duration of your contract + some extra just in case. Always make sure the Master on board gets informed about your use of medicines since this can be of importance of something happens to you, and also because some medicines can be regarded as narcotics. For example my personal experience most countries stick to the Solas with regards to what they consider narcotics but African countries keep whatever rule suits them best at that moment……
