The Arab Academy for Science Technology and Maritime Transport in Sharjah (AAST) has started implementing e-learning for courses at the College of Maritime Transport Technology, to combat the social distancing restrictions necessary as a result of the current pandemic. Faculty members have been trained in giving e-lectures as well as providing the necessary support to students. More than 100 students attended online lectures on the first day they were available, and the interactive educational process is said to have gone smoothly.
Dr. Ahmed Youssef, Associate Dean of the College of Maritime Transport Technology, AAST said, “Since the beginning of the current emergency, we have properly communicated with all our students and their parents, and we have also sent informative guidelines on implementing our new platform in the context of emphasising our efforts to ensure the safety of our students.”
Lectures are being held at set times, but in the event that a student is unable to attend, the full content will be uploaded online. AAST is also sending hard copies of key academic books to assigned distribution points.
